Biography

As Director of Community Program Development and Evaluation for the Kansas Center for Autism Research and Training (K-CART), Sean Swindler interfaces with families, providers and advocacy organizations to ensure K-CART is responsive to the needs of the Autism community and to provide opportunities to participate in research and training. As Core Manager for the KIDDRC Clinical-Translational Core,  he manages multiple registries that provide investigators access to a group of services designed to provide support for research recruitment of diverse populations and opportunities to interface with key community partners.   He works within the LifeSpan institute with researchers from the KU UCEDD, Juniper Gardens Children’s Project, the Center For Child Health and Development at University of Kansas Medical Center and with the KUMC LEND Program as Special Education and Self-Advocacy faculty.   He has worked with families of children with developmental disabilities and autism for 25 years as an individual advocate, at the public policy level, and in delivering direct case and care coordination services. As the parent of a child with Autism, he uses this insight in developing programming and service delivery models and to effectively communicate with parents and grass-roots community organizations.
